Hello FAST!

I am glad to inform that the cruise line company Viking Line has decided to adopt the European Chicken Commitment (ECC). This decision follows a long dialogue with Project 1882 and encompasses all of the company's operations in Sweden, Finland, and Estonia.

This makes Viking Line the latest cruise line company to commit to the ECC following discussions with Project 1882. They join Finnlines, Stena Line, and Destination Gotland in this initiative. Project 1882 is now focusing on the remaining ferry companies in the Baltic Sea, such as Tallink Silja and TT-Line.

Approximately 6 million people travel with Viking Line each year.

Following confirmation of a HPAI outbreak at a Maricopa County facility affecting 2.3 million egg-laying hens, Animal Outlook's investigator travelled to Arizona to record depopulation efforts at Hickman's Eggs in Tonopah. The footage shows piles of dead birds being poured into dump trucks by wheel loaders scooping out huge barns and workers without personal protective equipment covering their eyes, face, and mouth. Animal Outlook's investigation was picked up by Newsweek and press across the state. Thanks to Dr. Crystal Heath of Our Honor for her expert guidance.  Following the investigation, Hickman's, which is the largest egg producer in the Southwest and the 16th largest egg producer in the US overall, announced it was shutting down the vast majority of its operations for two years after admitting that bird flu had impacted six million of the birds in its facilities.  https://animaloutlook.org/investigations/hickmans-eggs-investigation/

Animal Equality - Spain Exposing the dairy industry in the Madrid Metro Our new investigation of eleven dairy farms in Spain reveals cruel yet common practices: forced insemination, calf separation, and violence against cows. Many cows are tethered and restricted by electrification systems. To raise awareness, we have placed three billboards in the Madrid Metro, expected to be seen by five million people in one month. Spain sees a reduction of two million caged hens The number of caged hens for egg production in Spain has dropped by two million in the past year, with the percentage in cages falling from 67% in 2023 to 64% in 2024. Since Animal Equality began its advocacy in 2016, nearly 14 million hens have been freed, thanks to commitments from producers and companies, and increasing consumer awareness.
