Following pressure from Mercy For Animals and supporter actions, four additional foodservice providers recently published promising Better Chicken Commitment (BCC) updates.
- Lessing’s Hospitality published BCC progress for the first time and a roadmap to 100% compliance with the BCC.
- Whitsons Culinary Group reaffirmed its BCC policy and published progress toward meeting its standards. We continue to encourage the company to publish a roadmap for policy fulfillment.
- In addition, Whitsons shared that all the eggs they source “come from cage-free or pasture-raised hens.”
- Pomptonian Foodservice reaffirmed its BCC policy and outlined a broad plan for meeting BCC standards. We continue to encourage the company to publish progress numbers and an incremental roadmap with annual percentage targets for each BCC component.
- In addition, Pomptonian published a cage-free roadmap.
- HHS Culinary published progress toward meeting the enrichment and litter standards of the BCC. They also share that their goal is to publish a detailed roadmap by the end of 2024.
These recent updates follow our announcement earlier this year that Parkhurst Dining, Metz Culinary Management, and Compass Group USA had all published BCC progress and roadmaps toward 100% policy fulfillment.
