The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has just released our second ASPCA Supermarket Scorecard -- a consumer resource that ranks grocery retailers in the United States on multiple farm animal welfare issues. This Scorecard grades the 25 largest U.S. grocery store chains’ farm animal welfare policies, progress reporting, and store-branded products on the extent to which they address critical animal welfare issues: breed and housing environment of broiler chickens, caging egg-laying hens, and use of gestation crates for pigs.
