Hi FAST!
Here’s an update on the fight against fur farming in Sweden:
A year ago, the Swedish government announced a voluntary phase-out subsidy for mink farmers, allocating 180 million SEK. They also announced plans to investigate a potential ban on fur-farming. While the number of mink farms has been cut in half since then, political progress has been minimal and the investigation into a ban is still pending.
Public opinion against fur farming is strong in Sweden, with eight out of ten people wanting to see a ban. This support contributed to Project 1882 gathering nearly 100,000 signatures for the European initiative Fur Free Europe, which collected a total of 1.5 million signatures.
Project 1882, which has been advocating for a ban on fur farming for over 50 years, is calling for immediate action. It’s time for the government to deliver on its promises and end fur farming in Sweden once and for all.
