About Us 

Compassion in World Farming International is a leading global animal welfare organisation dedicated to ending factory farming. We were founded in 1967 by Peter Roberts, a British farmer alarmed by the rise of factory farming. We have achieved bans on some of the most inhumane practices including barren battery cages, veal crates, and sow gestation crates in the UK and Europe. Our corporate engagement work has led to commitments that benefit over 3 billion animals with better lives every year.  
 

Our approach involves campaigning, advocacy, and engagement with policymakers at national, intergovernmental, and corporate levels, building a movement of individuals concerned about animal welfare and the health and sustainability of our food. Our international headquarters are in Godalming, Surrey, UK, with team members in 14 countries on four Continents, including the US, Italy, France, Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, Czechia, China, and a specialist policy office in Brussels.

Job Type: Permanent – Part-time 0.8 FTE (4 days / 30 hours per week) 

Salary: Up to £33,000 FTE (depending upon skills and experience) 

Location: HQ, Godalming UK (Hybrid working x2 days per week in the office: Tuesdays & Thursdays preferred) 

 

About the Role

As our Executive Assistant to the Global Director of Fundraising and the COO, you will play a crucial role in supporting our global leadership team. You will manage complex diaries, handle correspondence, assist with financial processes, coordinate travel, and arrange events and meetings, both at HQ and internationally. This is a multifaceted role where you’ll be ensuring seamless operations and effective communication, helping the Directors meet their strategic objectives. 

You will also assist with project administration and maintain accurate records in our systems (e.g., Salesforce), contributing to our overall operational effectiveness. You will be expected to maintain confidentiality, and work flexibly to meet the needs of the role, including occasional out-of-office support for events. 

 

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be highly organised, with proven experience managing multiple complex schedules, and coordinating a variety of tasks, with outstanding attention to detail. You should be comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A collaborative approach is key, as you will be working with various teams across the organization, and internationally. Strong administrative skills are essential, as well as experience supporting senior leadership. You will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as CRM systems such as Salesforce. 
 

Flexibility is key, as the role requires occasional travel and out-of-hours support for events and meetings. A proactive, methodical, and adaptable approach to tasks is essential.

Hello Fast! This year, the new aquaculture law will begin to be created, and we have launched several campaigns to raise awareness about marine animals and bring them closer to the public. One of these is our Save the Lobsters (Salvemos a las Langostas) campaign. A major Chilean supermarket (with locations in several Latin American countries) displays lobsters for sale in small aquariums that violate basic animal welfare standards and, furthermore, lack an internal protocol for their sale. In response, we have taken various actions, one of which is to alert the public. We have created a website to raise awareness about the situation, recently launched a petition for signatures, and as a result of our efforts, the Colegio Médico Veterinario de Chile (Chilean Veterinary Medical Association) has issued a statement supporting the view that invertebrates are sentient beings! This is very encouraging for us, as this is a highly respected professional body in Chile. We invite you to learn more about our campaign and reach out to us for any feedback you may have. Hi FAST!  The fight against fur farming in Sweden has taken yet another step forward.  This past week, the Swedish government has officially launched an inquiry into how a fur farming ban can be implemented. This follows a commitment made in 2023 and is the result of over 50 years of advocacy by Project 1882.  Last year, the government pledged to phase out mink farms and explore a full ban on fur farming. To support this transition, financial aid was introduced earlier this year to help farmers shut down their operations. Now, with this inquiry in motion, Sweden is closer than ever to ending fur farming for good. A legal ban is essential to ensure fur farming never returns.  The inquiry will outline how the ban will be enforced, with “animal ethics discussions” cited as a reason for moving forward. With the last mink farms expected to close to qualify for the government’s decommissioning support of 180 million SEK, industry resistance is fading, making a ban easier to implement.  Now, Project 1882 is urging the Swedish government to move forward with the inquiry without delay and to push for an EU-wide ban in line with the Fur Free Europe citizens’ initiative.  Read more here: https://www.project1882.org/news/major-victory-sweden-moves-closer-ban-fur-farming

Animal Outlook has launched its first Behavior Change and Volunteer Impact report, showing the results of programs that aim to influence lasting behavior change. Produced in collaboration with User-Friendly, the report documents some of the ways we can create measurable progress in shifting public attitudes and behaviors towards vegan eating. The report also shows the impact of volunteers in helping to maximize efforts in the animal protection movement. Last year, Animal Outlook volunteers completed almost 6,000 hours of work for animals.
