About Us:

Compassion in World Farming International is a leading global organisation dedicated to ending factory farming worldwide. We were founded in 1967 by Peter Roberts, a British farmer alarmed by the rise of factory farming. Over the past 50 years, we have made major strides in abolishing inhumane practices such as barren battery cages, veal crates, and sow gestation crates in the UK and Europe.

Our approach involves campaigning, advocacy, and engagement with policymakers at national, intergovernmental, and corporate levels, building a movement of individuals concerned about animal welfare and the health and sustainability of our food. We are driven by a passion for animal welfare and food system change, believing in a future where animals are treated with compassion and respect, and where sustainable farming practices prevail for a healthy planet. Our international headquarters are in Godalming (UK), with team members in 14 countries on four continents including the US, Italy, France, Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, Czechia, China, and a specialist policy office in Brussels.

About the Role:

As a Global Finance Assistant, you will play a role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. You will perform essential tasks such as monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations, manage pre-payments, accruals, and income reconciliations, and support the preparation of financial reports. By working closely with our Income and Accounts Payable teams, you will help ensure that all financial data is correctly recorded and processed.

In addition to this, you will respond to ad hoc queries from budget holders and assist with budgeting and forecasting, as well as provide financial support for key projects and assist in audit preparation.

About You:

To succeed in the role of Global Finance Assistant, you will need to have experience or be part-qualified. You should have practical experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, along with a strong ability to analyse financial data. Proficiency with financial software (such as Excel or ERP systems) is essential, along with excellent communication skills to translate complex financial data, to non-financial stakeholders.

In addition, you should have a keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliation tasks. You’ll need to be able to handle multiple priorities, work under pressure to meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively across teams.

Why You Should Apply:

As our Global Finance Assistant, you’ll help drive financial accuracy, strategy, and compliance, while collaborating with teams dedicated to making a global impact.

Applications:

If you are passionate about animal welfare and have the skills and experience to excel in this role, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your CV and a cover letter, outlining how you meet the Person Specification detailed in the job description. Please note that we reserve the right to commence interviews on a rolling programme.

Following confirmation of a HPAI outbreak at a Maricopa County facility affecting 2.3 million egg-laying hens, Animal Outlook's investigator travelled to Arizona to record depopulation efforts at Hickman's Eggs in Tonopah. The footage shows piles of dead birds being poured into dump trucks by wheel loaders scooping out huge barns and workers without personal protective equipment covering their eyes, face, and mouth. Animal Outlook's investigation was picked up by AZ Family (the local CBS affiliate), local news source InMaricopa, and the state's biggest newspaper, The Arizona Republic. Thanks to Dr. Crystal Heath of Our Honor for her expert guidance.  Following the investigation, Hickman's, which is the largest egg producer in the Southwest and the 16th largest egg producer in the US overall, announced it was shutting down the vast majority of its operations for two years after admitting that bird flu had impacted six million of the birds in its facilities.  https://animaloutlook.org/investigations/hickmans-eggs-investigation/
