Aquatic Life Institute (ALI) is proud to announce its pivotal role in the development of Blueyou's groundbreaking Animal Welfare Policy, the first of its kind for a sustainable seafood brand in the world. This collaborative effort represents a major shift towards integrating animal welfare considerations into the seafood industry and sets a new benchmark for other brands to follow.

The creation of this policy was a meticulous process in which ALI played a critical role. Our team provided extensive edits and suggestions to ensure that it not only meets but exceeds current animal welfare standards. The policy focuses on reducing animal stress and suffering, educating the supply chain, and committing to transparent progress reporting.

Some of its strongest elements include an ambitious plan to address critical issues in aquaculture, such as pre-slaughter stunning and mutilation, by December 2025. In addition, the policy promotes nature-based farming systems and lower trophic species, as well as robust measures on stocking densities and water quality.

Blueyou's new policy is part of a comprehensive set of 10 impact policies that reflect the company's holistic approach to responsible seafood and will impact various species of fish, crustaceans, and mollusks produced by the company. Notably, the policy also focuses on improving welfare in wild capture fisheries - a sector where welfare considerations are still in their infancy.

ALI and Blueyou are strongly committed to continuing their collaboration, not only to refine this policy but also to ensure its successful implementation in the years to come.
