Are you organised, tech-savvy, and passionate about animal rights? Join the International Centre for Animal Rights and Ethics (ICARE) as an Online Event Coordinator (Volunteer) to help us plan, promote, and execute impactful virtual events.

ICARE is dedicated to advocating for animals' fundamental rights through education, research, and advocacy. As an Online Event Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our bi-monthly seminars, intensive short courses, and other virtual activities run smoothly.

What You’ll Do

1. Event Planning & Management

  • Set up and manage online registration systems (e.g., Luma, Zoom).
  • Coordinate event schedules with the team and oversee logistics during live sessions.

2. Live Event Support

  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues during events.
  • Manage attendance, Q&A, and chat functions while being the point of contact for participants and speakers.

3. Communication & Collaboration

  • Draft pre- and post-event emails (e.g., updates, thank-you notes).
  • Work closely with social media, marketing, and video editing volunteers to promote events and share recordings.
     

4. Post-Event Coordination

  • Analyse attendee feedback and report on event metrics.
  • Ensure materials like edited recordings and subtitles are distributed and uploaded to platforms (e.g., YouTube).


What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Tech-savviness, with confidence in platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, and Luma.
  • Proactive problem-solving, especially during live events.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in coordinating webinars, online events or online courses and seminars (optional but a plus).
  • Familiarity with YouTube and social media platforms.
  • Basic video editing skills (optional but beneficial).

Time Commitment

This volunteer role requires a commitment of 5 hours per week, with some flexibility depending on the event schedule:

  • Bi-Monthly Animal Rights Seminar Series: Time spent on event preparation, live hosting, and follow-up activities.
  • Case-by-case Intensive Seminars/Short Live Courses: Additional time as needed for these events, particularly during preparation and delivery.

Availability during the days leading up to events and on event days is essential, with lighter workloads in between.

A new substitute text was presented that responds point by point to the MIDAGRI arguments. Here we explain it easily. @waldemar_cerron @katy_ugarte @rosiotorressali @edgartellom   SECOND: Will the price of eggs go up? FALSE. The PL doesn't require changes in breeding or processing. It only asks for transparency: indicating whether the egg was raised in a cage, shed, or pasture. Hens in cages are kept immobilized. This system was banned in the EU more than 10 years ago. In news of progress for our global campaign to ban octopus farming, a federal bill to prevent the commercial farming of octopuses, as well as the importation and sale of commercially farmed octopuses, has been reintroduced by U.S. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).  The bipartisan legislation was originally introduced in 2024 and is being brought forward again now due to continued momentum at the federal level for the bill to become law. It is preceded by the introduction of similar legislation in various U.S. states, including formal laws in California and Washington.    The bill, referred to as “Opposing the Cultivation and Trade of Octopus Produced through Unethical Strategies Act of 2025” or the “OCTOPUS Act of 2025,” prohibits any authorization of commercial octopus aquaculture operations in the United States and its exclusive economic zone. The bill also prohibits the importation into the United States - or the re-exportation - of commercially aquacultured octopus, including any living or dead specimens, parts, or derivatives, or any product containing specimens, parts, or derivatives of such octopus.   We at Aquatic Life Institute (ALI) believe that the reintroduction of this federal bill signifies a watershed moment in protecting against the environmental, ethical, and public health challenges associated with octopus farming. This bill, as well as other recent legislative progress, follows the advocacy efforts of several NGOs, including ALI, Animal Legal Defense Fund, and more. * After negotiations with ICAW, the UK retailer Morrisons committed to eliminating eyestalk ablation and implementing pre-slaughter electric stunning for all farmed shrimp in its supply chain by 2027. * We have been actively talking to them for several months and they have been very impressed by our recent campaign against Iceland, including our recent protests in London!
