🔴 Urgent Call for Volunteers

The International Centre for Animal Rights and Ethics (ICARE) is seeking skilled Video Editors to join our team and help transform raw video recordings of live lectures into a professional, high-quality on-demand course. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to advancing animal rights law education globally.

💡 What You’ll Do:

  • Edit live lecture recordings (2.5–3 hours each) to improve clarity, flow, and engagement.
  • Add captions/subtitles for accessibility and inclusivity (I'll review the transcriptions for academic/animal rights law concepts, no worries!).
  • Incorporate title cards and branding elements (logos, transitions, intro/outro slides) using ICARE’s brand guidelines (branding kit provided).
  • Enhance video/audio quality (e.g., noise reduction, sound balancing).
  • Ensure videos meet professional standards for an on-demand course.
  • Collaborate with the ICARE team via Slack, integrating feedback to maintain quality and consistency.

💼 Skills We’re Looking For:

  • Proven video editing experience (experience with educational/professional content preferred).
  • Proficiency in software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar.
  • Experience with adding captions/subtitles (knowledge of accessibility standards is a plus).
  • Familiarity with branding guidelines and consistency in application (branding kit provided).
  • Strong time-management and communication skills (being responsive and coordinating with the other video editor(s) is essential).
  • A team-oriented mindset and willingness to collaborate on ICARE’s mission.

Time Commitment:

  • Editing 8 lectures in total (divided among video editors), 2.5-3 hours each
  • Estimated 10 hours per video, depending on your pace and workload.
  • Flexibility for check-ins with the team to provide updates and integrate feedback.

What We Offer:

  • A small stipend for each completed video as recognition of your contribution.
  • An opportunity to support a groundbreaking initiative making animal rights education accessible to underrepresented communities worldwide--and to everyone, everywhere, as animal rights law is not on the academic map!
  • Your work will empower advocates, students, and professionals globally to advance animal rights through the law.
  • Experience working on a professional, high-impact project and refining your video editing skills.
  • Recognition of your contributions across ICARE’s platforms (and my eternal gratitude).

🌍 Make a Global Impact:
By joining ICARE, you’ll help create an accessible, high-quality course that equips individuals with the tools to advocate for animal rights effectively. This project directly supports those in regions where access to animal rights law education is scarce, with less financial means to access it, or simply with more constraints and for whom a self-paced learning format is ideal. You'll directly contribute to empowering animal advocates to make a difference.

📧 How to Apply:
Interested in joining us? Apply at https://www.icare-animals.org/get-involved or email us at info@icare-animals.org with:

  • Your CV.
  • A brief explanation of your interest in this role.
  • A portfolio or examples of your video editing work.

Help us make animal rights law education accessible to everyone, everywhere!🐾

We’re thrilled to share a victory for animals and truth in advertising! Thanks to Animal Outlook’s lawsuit, filed with the incredible support of Legal Impact for Chickens (LIC), the nearly 100-year-old DC butcher shop, Harvey’s Market, has agreed to stop selling foie gras forever. The case, filed in the District of Columbia Superior Court, challenged Harvey’s Market’s alleged deceptive advertising practices related to foie gras. The lawsuit alleged that Harvey’s Market falsely promoted foie gras as “HUMANELY RAISED STOCK” and “FREE RANGE,” among other allegedly misleading claims. These statements were displayed inside Harvey’s Market in a manner that suggested they applied to every product in the meat case, including foie gras. AO and LIC argued that animals subjected to gavage (force-feeding) to produce foie gras can never be “humanely raised,” and that animals raised entirely indoors without outdoor access cannot be considered “free range.” Thanks to the efforts of LIC’s amazing legal team—Kathryn Evans and Alene Anello—we were able to send the message that deceptive claims about animal welfare will not go unchallenged. As part of the case, LIC sourced a unique poll of DC consumers to show 75% believe “humane raised stock” to be an inaccurate description of the birds used to make foie gras. A further 80% said they would not consider such birds to be “free range”. And when shown an image of the meat case from Harvey’s Market approximately 65% said they thought the signage applied to all products in the case, including the foie gras.  While Harvey’s Market did not admit liability, Animal Outlook voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit on July 1, 2025, following the confidential settlement agreement.
