We're looking for an investigative researcher with excellent investigations, analysis and campaigning skills to support our work on the climate impacts of agriculture.

ARIA is a research and intelligence-gathering organisation that produces analytic and investigative work into the world's biggest environmental problems and the powerful interests blocking good climate outcomes. We work closely with partners in media, academia and civil society to develop research, analysis and investigative work that creates space for more sustainable and equitable societies.

Our agriculture team focuses on the politics, science and narratives that shape the climate discussion for livestock and agriculture. In this investigative researcher role, you will work with colleagues and external partners to conduct investigations and feed into strategies that explore and challenge the power of the industrial agriculture/livestock sector in shaping those politics, policies and narratives.

We are looking for someone with strong investigative skills, and a naturally collaborative and generous approach to working with colleagues. Our preferred candidate will be expected to develop strong relationships with various partners working on climate accountability. We want someone who is focused on real-world impact with the ability to think strategically about the space in which ARIA operates.

If this sounds like you, we'd love you to apply.

How you'll contribute

  • Conduct high-quality, robust research and investigations on strategically important aspects of the influence of the agriculture industry.
  • Compile credible, concise briefings for allies and partners to inform their understanding and become a source of intelligence and insight.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders including journalists, NGOs, legal experts and academic researchers with an interest in this space.
  • Under the guidance of senior colleagues, co-design and contribute to field-building activities to strengthen capacity in key regions.

Our ideal candidate has

  • Research and investigations skills with an appetite for strategy; or campaigning experience associated with an appetite for research and investigations;
  • Experience in building and maintaining partnerships with journalists and civil society organisations;
  • Familiarity with the opportunities and pitfalls of deploying analysis, research and investigative journalism in campaign contexts;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, our working language; additional languages are an asset;
  • A genuine interest in food systems and a passion for addressing climate change, and a commitment to an inclusive and just approach to tackling climate change;
  • The disposition to work generously with colleagues in a high-trust, remote, global community of peers;
  • The versatile and adaptable skills necessary to flourish in a remote, fast-paced and wide-ranging work environment and work across time zones.

We encourage you to apply even if you don't perfectly match every requirement listed. We're dedicated to building a team that reflects the communities we serve and creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute and has the opportunity to grow.

Why join us?

  • Work with dynamic, culturally diverse individuals who combine their passion to make a difference with a rigorous and results-oriented approach to work.
  • Be part of a remote-first, international network of professionals working on climate, energy and nature. We offer coworking space access in some locations.
  • Enjoy regular opportunities to connect and collaborate with colleagues around the world.
  • A full-time position with a consultant or employment contract, subject to location, for 12 months, with possible renewal after one year. Only candidates with the right to work in their location will be considered.

At ACE, we are committed to ensuring that every donation is put to the best possible use. As part of this commitment, we are conducting an internal assessment of our programmatic work, and we would love to hear from you. We are seeking your input to better understand how familiar the farmed animal advocacy community is with our work, how people use our work, and the positive and negative effects our charity evaluations, recommendations, and grants have on organizations and individuals working in animal advocacy. Your feedback is incredibly important in helping us improve our work. The survey will take roughly 15 minutes, and your insights will directly shape our efforts moving forward. ACCESS THE SURVEY The survey will be open until June 15th, 2025. We appreciate your time and support! The ACE team.

Hi everyone, Fórum Animal is pleased to announce that Piscicultura Água Pura/Recanto Sol Nascente has publicly committed to improving the welfare of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)! The company has reinforced its commitment in 2025 to continue implementing the following practices: ·        Daily assessment of water quality ·        Removal of predators from tanks ·        Transporting animals only in good quality water The company primarily sells live animals. However, when slaughter is necessary, the public commitment also ensures that animals will be slaughtered with adequate prior stunning methods such as electric stunning or percussive shock. Fórum Animal engaged in friendly negotiations with the company in April 2025 based on our "Guidelines for Commitment to Animal Welfare in Fish Farming". We estimate that this commitment will benefit 300,000 tilapia annually in Brazil! Check out the commitment in Portuguese [here]. We will continue negotiating fish welfare commitments with other companies to expand the positive impact on millions of lives. For the animals!

Hi FAST! The ongoing egg crisis continues to challenge the foodservice industry with shortages and soaring prices—but smart, plant-based substitutions offer operators easy, sustainable solutions to supply chain volatility. Last month, Greener by Default hosted a webinar with three culinary leaders to share their tips, tricks, and practical takeaways for foodservice professionals looking to looking to make their menus more resilient and cost-effective through subtle, plant-based swaps, without compromising on taste or diner experience.  The insights and experiences shared by our three expert chefs were so incredibly helpful and action-oriented, we've distilled them down into three key strategies and published them on our blog, and created a highlight reel so as many foodservice professionals as possible can access the knowledge that was shared during the session.  Please feel free to read, watch, and share these links with anyone you think could benefit from this discussion around navigating the egg crisis: Blog post: https://www.greenerbydefault.com/blog/navigating-egg-crisis-recap  Highlight reel:

Hello everyone! We’re pleased to announce our first cage-free commitment from a supermarket: Franco Supermercado, a retailer with four stores in Arequipa and one in Lima, has committed to selling only 100% cage-free eggs by the end of 2026. Commitment link: You can see the publication of the commitment in this LINK. Scale: National (Perú) Timeline:  Compromiso Verde first established contact during a visit to Arequipa in April 2023. We followed up during a second trip in September 2024, where we arranged an in-person meeting. After several months without a response, we successfully reengaged the company by sending a corporate gift for Friendship Day. This gesture led to two additional face-to-face meetings in February 2025, during which we also explored how Compromiso Verde could support them in developing a cage-free egg farm through our PROBA certification program for local producers. ARBA began conversations with Franco Supermercado in November 2024 through emails, WhatsApp messages, and phone calls. Who: Compromiso Verde and ARBA Unsuccessful Tactics: None. Successful Tactics: In-person meetings at the company’s offices in Lima and Arequipa, delivered a corporate gift, and offered support for cage-free egg production through the PROBA program. Scalability: This commitment is significant as it comes from a supermarket chain with locations in Peru's two largest cities. Follow Up: We will stay in touch to request reports and validate compliance with the commitment.  Thank you!
