Good morning everyone, 
unbelievable news today morning in the EU. A great success for the campaign #EUforAnimals: there will be a EU commissioner (~minister) for health and ANIMAL WELFARE in the EU.(!!!) (it was so far only "Health")
 

The campaign started in 2021 and supported by around 60 organisations (5 to 10 being particularly active), and a coordination financed and supported by GAIA from Belgium. The strategy was focused on lobbying (at EU parlament and commission) and a central online petition signed by 310 000 EU citizens.

This will increase the competence for animal welfare in the commission, the voice and political representation of animals,  and is positive news for the still pending revision of the animal welfare legislation. Of course as always, we'll have to watch out and keep campaigning for the commission to deliver the best  legislation for animals in the next years.
