The JBS subsidiary announced:
“We were recently made aware that a foie gras product not permitted for retail sale in California was inadvertently available in a limited number of our stores. As soon as this was brought to our attention on July 29, 2025, we took immediate action to remove the product from all California locations and from our online assortment…Following that action, Wild Fork made the decision to discontinue the sale of foie gras entirely. As of August 5, 2025, the product has been removed from all Wild Fork stores across the U.S. and Canada.”
Animal Outlook's recent undercover investigation revealed that foie gras was being sold in all 11 Wild Fork Foods locations in California, where the sale of foie gras is expressly prohibited by state law. These findings ignited an online campaign pressuring the company to ban foie gras from all its stores and its website.
The decision by the world's largest meat company to end its sale of foie gras in North America represents one of the largest single retailer commitments to end foie gras sales in U.S. history.
